PLMD=: Periodic limb movement disorder, a sleep disorder in which a patient moves his/her limbs involuntarily during sleep (unlike restless leg syndrome, which can occur while awake). Diagnosis is made by an overnight sleep study (polysomnogram). A variety of meds are used to treat the condition, but at present there is no cure. Avoiding caffeine (as well as chemically related chocolate) is recommended.
