Yes: Periodic limb movement disorder is a complex syndrome which may be caused by untreated sleep disorder. Finding out the underlying etiology is the first step.

Not unreasonable: To address this issues with your doctor. Though if you feel you sleep well, have no daytime fatigue, good energy levels, good moods, and overall good health, even if you have PLMD you may defer pharmacotherapy(as its mostly the means of treatment) as it can has significant adverse effects. Nonetheless best of luck.
