Neurologic issues: Peripheral neuropathy leads to numbness, tingling and at times sharp shooting pains of the extremities while restless leg syndrome causes urge to move legs due to aching, tingling and shaking.

They aren't the same: People often become confused about whether their symptoms are due to neuropathy or RLS. One of them causes symptoms all the time, and is often due to high blood sugar or low vitamin B12. Nerve conduction testing can prove if neuropathy is present. RLS causes an unpleasant feeling, normally in the legs, that is worse in the evenings, and better with walking. The nerves are normal in RLS.
