A member asked:

I suffer from gad, sad & hypochondria since many years. i have mild neuropathy & idiopathic rls also, taken anxiety med such as effexor in past but couldn't continue it due to side-effects, doctor suggest cymbalta now, can i expect same side effects?

Probably not. The anti-depressants and tranquilizers have different side effects in different people. When one drug from this class does not suit you we change medicine. This often helps to improve the benefits as well as improve tolerance. But the most useful guide is to stay on the medication for 2 to 3 months before you can judge its side effects and the good effects(Benefits/efficacy).

Cymbalta's most frequent annoying effect is nausea, which can be mitigated by slow upwards titration dosing. Most folks do fine after 4-6 weeks, and you will likely tolerate better than Effexor in future.
