A member asked:

What is the best nasal medication for chronic cough? i am getting over an upper respiratory infection, i have little to no sputum and am not a smoker.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nasal medication?: I am not aware of any nasal sprays specifically for cough. Coughs can occur because of "post-nasal drip" which is usually from sinus infection. These coughs may be relatively dry. You are already on an antihistamine and a nasal steroid. Nasal decongestants are habit forming and actually may worsen the problem. If cough is nonproductive and keeping you up at night, dextromethorphan/codeine helps.
