Of course!: Anytime anything breaks the surface of the skin, foreign material gets in and your body triggers an inflammatory response to fight it off. If you're asking if this is cat scratch fever, no. That's a systemic illness involving swollen lymph nodes, among other things. Keep your cat scratch clean and it will heal quickly. If it doesn't it may be infected, and you should see your doctor.

Infection?: There are bacterial infections you can get from cat scratches. They are easily treated with an oral antibiotic.
