Can antibiotics treat mono?

No: Antibiotics don't treat viral illnesses. Mono is caused by a virus.

No, it is viral: Mono is an infection by ebv virus, and is seen more often in teens or young adults. Ebv virus is contagious in the saliva. Younger kids who catch ebv usually do not get the mono syndrome of prolonged fatigue, aches, swollen glands, huge tonsils, fevers, sore throat, swollen spleen, etc... Occasionally, middle ear or sinus infections, or a coincidental strep throat, occur and need antibiotics.
