Dr. does 2-wk check: At the 2-week check-up, the doctor can confirm the baby is fine. Parents patiently wait 3 months before most babies sleep better at night. Parents switch off at night for one feeding, so the husband can use a bottle for one of the feedings while the wife gets a chance to sleep a 4-hour stretch during the night. Three months goes by fast! then, a baby can sleep about a 6-7 hour stretch at night.

Sleep patterns vary: Babies develop their own sleep patterns, and usually by five months most infants will sleep for most of the night. Napping while the baby naps will perhaps with feeling less tired. Congratulations on the birth of your son.

Newborns have more: sleep cycles/night than adults. They may cry out in light sleep, causing you to nurse when he's not fully awake if he is in your bedroom. Sleep consolidation occurs between 1-4 mos. if you establish a regular bedtime & routine in low light.Read, rock, feed, wipe out his mouth with a soft cloth. Put him on his back in his crib in his room, drowsy but awake, to learn to self-calm to sleep. See below
