A member asked:

Could it be illegal to not take child to dentist?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Absolutely: I have turned parents over to child protective services for refusing treatment on their kids. I am not referring to minor cavities, but gross caries with an abcess present which must be treated and can lead to significant health issues if not treated. If cost is an issue, there are programs which help defer the cost.
