See below: Model behavior. Take your child to the dentist when you go. Talk ahead of time about the process/details of the dental visit. There are also books available to read to your child about doctors/dentist visits.

Go often: Find a nice, gentle dentist and develop a nice friendly relationship between you, your child and their dentist. Most fear at childhood comes from the child hearing that other people are afraid or have had bad experiences. Today's dentistry is so advanced compared to years ago that children should have good experiences.

Fear of the dentist: A few tips. Never use the dentist as a threat (you better brush or you will get a shot). Use the internet to find fun animated video's that show how fun the dentist can be. Get a book about going to the dentist. Explain to your child that the dentist wears gloves and a mask. A mask is very intimidating to children so explain this first. Be excited and they will too.
