Serious signs: These can be signs of a serious problem and should be determined by a physician. Time is of the essence and this should not be put off. You should never strain. There are medications that can help. And there are many medications that can cause constipation such as the pain meds you are on. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) can help also dulcolax and magnesium citrate. See your doctor to find out which is the best tx.
