If you can walk: Chances are it is not broken. In other words it is most likely an ankle sprain. Certainly taping is ok but it loosens up after about 15 minutes of play. I would recommend and athletic lace up ankle brace that you can tighten up as you play. If it is not getting better in a week or you can't run or bear weight see a doc and get an xray.
