Metformin: As we get older, we tend to become Insulin resistant. Metformin acts like a metabolic rejuvenator, and restores Insulin sensitivity. I recommend 500 mg metformin three times daily. Metformin will normalize blood sugar, but will not cause hypoglycemia. My non-diabetic patients on metformin invariably feel better, have more energy, lose their carbohydrate cravings, and lose body fat.
