The vitreous gel : that fills your eye is in constant contact with the retina, the film that allows you to see light in the back of your eye. Sometimes the vitreous gel tugs on the retina and this causes you to perceive a flash of light. You should have a dilated eye exam to make that the vitreous tugging did not cause a retinal tear or detachment. Be well.
