High fiber: a high fiber diet, with fresh fruits, vegetables, beans and legumes will lower blood sugar because the fiber causes a slower release of sugar into the blood. Processed foods without any fiber will raise blood sugar. Whole grain foods also contain fiber and might lower blood sugar when eaten in moderation.
