Not recommended: In many cases, it can be dangerous to quickly lower blood glucose, even with insulin. Most of the time, if the glucose is high for a hospitalized patient we lower glucose in a slow regular fashion. It is best to eat a diet that avoids rapid increases in caloric/carbohydrate load to avoid rapid shifts in insulin, which haas many risks. Eat low glycemic index foods, small portions and "healthy".
