Root canal pain: You may have some discomfort following a root canal treatment, but it should not continue for an extended period of time. If you are still having pain and expecially if you are having swelling, return to the dentist that performed the root canal treatment.

Not very long: Root canal treatment usually stops the pain immediately. However, sometimes the pain can be pretty bad for up to a week. However, at no time it should hurt more than 30 days. If it does, something is wrong.

Depends: If the tooth was severely infected over a long period of time, it may take longer to heal. Also, if the dentist/root canal specialist did not take the tooth out of bite (smooth the biting surface slightly so the opposite teeth do not hit it, ) then you may need to have that done to ease the pain. Normally, the pain should diminish rather quickly.
