A member asked:

25mg of methotrexate and 25mg of enbrel (etanercept) is that to much for a 7yr old with jra and enthesisitis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably not: Maximum recommended dose of Methotrexate (according to epocrates dosing guide, which I use a lot) is 30 mg/m2/week. For an "average" 7 year old (and I use that term loosely, because there is a huge range) that is 25 kg and 130 cm (55 lbs and 51 inches) that would be a max dose of 28 mg/week (bsa=0.93 mg/m2.) for enbrel, (etanercept) max dose is 50 mg/ week, with usual dosing 0.8 mg/kg (dose = 20 mg starting).
