Unclear: Obviously you can not have implants placed if the tooth is still present. Perhaps they mean they want to remove the tooth and place the implant at the same time, as opposed to doing it in two separate visits. I would ask the doctor for clarification.

Not required: If there are bad teeth that needs to be removed, then you don't have to wait to get implants to remove them.

More info please: I think that either you are giving us too little information or there was some misunderstanding in the communication between you and the prosthodontist. Feel free to restate your questions. We can't agree or disagree to the question as stated.

No, teeth remove Ok: While it is possible your dentist may have said this because you might have esthetic or functional issues or your bite may need correction first, you most certainly can have one or all your teeth remove before getting implants.

False: In some cases, the teeth can be extracted and the implant placed at the same socket at the same appointment. However, if you have a severe infection in a tooth root or your gums, your dentist may remove the teeth and wait a few months to allow the area to heal.

More info needed: Not sure of question without more info. At By Design Dental Implant Center we routinely remove all remaining teeth and place implants immediately and place temporary fixed teeth on the implants - all at the same appointment. As a Prosthodontist I would tend to believe what you have been told, but need more specific info to help answer your question.
