Decreased oxygen.: Muscles cramp when they need more oxygen. When you lie flat in bed your blood pressure drops slightly reducing blood flow to your feet. This may result in cramping of the muscles in your feet. It may also be an electrolyte imbalance. Try 12 ounces of tonic water an hour before bedtime. Go for a general physical exam and routine blood work as well.
