Cramping : Cramping can be due to dehydration or electrolyte or even vitamin deficiencies. Also, you have to consider gout as a possible cause. You are not over reacting. You should see your doctor for an evaluation and treatment. Best of luck.

Possible neuroma: Or possibly it was a cramp which could be caused b many things including dehydration, over utilization of intrinsics, vitamin or mineral deficiency, side effect of medication etc...
