3-6 months: A general rule of thumb is 3 months for the third of the leg near the knee, 4 months of the middle of the leg and 5 months of the third near the ankle. This assumes that the fracture is closed (skin was not broken) and is minimally displaced or was repaired surgically.. If you are a smoker or have poor circulation, you can double your healing time
