Child Development: This is absolutely normal, on schedule, and as it should be for a ten month old child. He will grow out of this as his brain continues to develop and there will be a time when he becomes 'too' curious and you will worry the other way. There is nothing here to worry about at all.

6 -18 month olds: Are often shy. Also, realize that "shyness" may be a part of your child's temperament. It may take him longer to get used to new situations, people or changes in routine. It 's not necessarily a thing to be "overcome". It may help to prepare your child for a new situation, practice what to say and do when you meet new people. Try to be patient and accepting.

Emotional awareness: This is a normal developmental stage that emerges when a kid realizes that their primary caregivers are more important to them than strangers.Even family members that are not in daily contact may elicit avoidance.I see this as evidence that the kids brain shows normal development. It will subside some with age, but remain well into their preschool years.
