NEED CONSULT HEMATOL: You to consult a pediatric hematologist about the above blood test as it suggest the baby may have e/beta thalassemia which is a genetic condition more common in suouth east asia it can be mild condition with normal hemoglobin 9to12 grm/dl or severe with hemoglobin 6to8grm/dl please discuss with his pediatrician and consult a pediatric hematologist and you and your husband needs to tested as well.

What is the difference in the utility of these 2 tests: IgG subclass (1-4) serum blood test.......And......Serum protein electrophoresis?
Moms blood protein high@ 8.5g/dl (8.3 upper limit). Alb ok. Glob@ upper limit of normal. A/G ratio low@ .8 (1.1-2.2). Low iron,high ferritin. Hgb low@ 12g/dl (12.5-16). eGFR 59. Can biopsy-proven chronic gastritis explain? Push for electrophoresis?
Dr ran a protein electrophoresis test on me (both urine and blood). Kappa light chains slightly elevated/flagged in serum (21.5) but normal range in urine. No M spike observed and all other values normal. Chances of cancer small?
I know that the typical test for sickle-cell anemia is a hemoglobin electrophoresis, but will you be able to see the sickle shape of the blood cells?
