Possibly: As i indicated in my previous post to you, your child has hemoglobin e / beta+ thalassemia. Some patients like your child will have problems with iron overload, even if they are not chronically transfused. For those patients, excess iron in the diet can be harmful. Please see a doctor with knowledge about hemoglobin e / beta+ thalassemia.
