What's good: Is that you quit smoking. Have heard a lot of anecdotal stories about post-quit coughing and lung clearing but if the cough persists i would recommend you see your doctor and perhaps obtain a chest x-ray to be certain. Congratulations on quitting!

Could be: It's great that you've made this good health decision to quit smoking. Many who quit smoking go through a period of coughing that clears mucous and toxins out of their lungs. There are otc medications like music Mucinex (guaifenesin) that may help to speed up the process. But i would recommend you see your doctor if this persists.
