Sleepless: First, sleep in a sitting position at about 65 degrees.Second, use a vaporizer. Third , you can use a neti pot or salt water nose drops several times a day.Fourth you can try an antihistamine like allegra, zyrtec, or claritin, (loratadine) and above all, push fluids.

Varies: Otc meds for head colds vary in efficiency from person to person. You may want to try a vaporizer in your room which may help with opening up the airways and passages. Nyquil may help but don't take too much. Can make really drowsy.
