Depends: Simple bladder infections don't turn into kidney infections unless there is an obstruction or dysfunction of the bladder or ureter outlets causing a back flow into the kidneys. Unlike simple bladder infections, kidney infections usually have associated chills, fever and at times discomfort in the back or flank area. Incomplete bladder emptying has to be avoided.
