A member asked:

How long does it take for herpes igm antibodies to disappear - for a person to test negative after exposure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Herpes simplex: Positive test results for hsv-2 indicate genital herpes. If this was igm then in 6-8 weeks it should convert to igg antibodies, but this is immaterial. Either you have this or you don't and once you have it, it will remain with you for the rest of your life. We do not yet have a cure for herpes simplex viral infection.
