A member asked:

Are space maintainers suppose to make the new teeth that grow in look like they are decayed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NO: If the tooth that the space was saved for erupts stained or decalcified, it is probably because something irritated the tooth while it was forming. A good guess would be the infected baby tooth whose space was saved by the space maintainer.
