A few wks: A pulpotomy is a temporary measure to get you out of pain until the root canal is performed. It is also sometimes performed when the dr. Does not have time to do a complete root canal of if the case is complex and needs an endodontist to perform the endodontics. It mus always be followed by a complete root canal before infection occurs or gets worse.

Pulpectomy 1-2 month: Pulpotomy is usually performed on baby teeth. A pulpectomy is a dental procedure in which all of the pulp in the pulp chamber and root canal of a tooth is removed, but not sealed. If the temporary filling is dissolved then you run the risk of reinfection, and the pulpectomy treatment may need to be repeated. Do not procrastinate, it will avoid future complications.
