Root canal variant : 'holistic root canal' is a root canal technique(s) which is not an endorsed or recognized class of treatment by the american dental association or the academy of endodontists. Conventional root canal is a technique taught in recognized dental schools and involves the complete cleaning and disinfection of the canals in a tooth.

Materials used: "holistic" dentists tend to use different materials when performing the root canal than conventional dentists. Some materials appear better at preventing root canals from harboring chronic infections, which can be a serious problem. However, using proper microscopic technique is also important.
