Best answer: Let it get loose and the child can get it out unless it is over retained. Than, if the child is seeing a dentist, they can let you know by x-ray and age if the dentist should help it out. 9 times out of 10, let it come out naturally. If the child wants to work it out, ice can be a help, because only tissue is keeping it in. Put the on the gum under the tooth, back and front, freezing the tissue.
