Depends: You can go to several websites to obtain the research. The frequency, duration, intensity and length of time often will determine which activity burns more calories. Running normally is the best.

Yes: Depending on how much energy you use to do it, you can spend a good deal running in place.

A 41-year-old member asked:
Can you burn more calories walking or cycling?

Probably cycling: There are calculators available on the internet to help you figure out how many calories you burn with different activities based on your weight, such as this one from healthstatus:
http://www.Healthstatus.Com/calculate/cbc
you can directly compare activities. For example, a 150 lb person biking 12-14 mph for 1 hr would burn 594 calories compared to 297 calories walking 3 mph for 1 hr.

Agree. Of course, it depends on the intensity of each activity.

What should I do instead of running to burn the calories?

Get moving!: A body in motion will burn calories, so a brisk walk is the most convenient way to do it without the pain of running. It is slower but if you can walk for 30-45 minutes daily you will have definite success in reaching your goal.
