Rupture: The most common risk with silicone implants that are not replaced would be rupture. Ruptured implants can lead to capsular contracture and spread of the silicone into the breast tissue and possibly lymph nodes. Silicone implants should be replaced at around the ten year mark as recommended by the manufacturers.

Safe w proper care: No surgery is risk free. Having said that silicone breast augmentation performed for the proper indications in the right patient and for the right reasons using reasonable sized implants with appropriate follow up is a very safe procedure. Seek the skills of a board certifies plastic surgeon who will guide you through this process and discuss the risks involved.
