You need to be eval-: Uated with a detailed hx and examination with review of the xrays, mri, and result of the physio etc. Other causes, are most likely, be referred pain from the hip area or the back. These areas need to be checked out. Also xrays ; mri's are known to not show all lesions of the cartilage, specifically the articular cartilage. Good luck.

Knee Pain: Many issues that could be causing your pain, without evaluating you its hard to assess. It could be a lateral meniscus pain, lateral collateral ligament issue, hairline fracture, patellar ligament pain, fibular head dislocation, etc... I would suggest seeing a properly trained sports medicine physician.
