Microscopy: The pathologist who read out your polyp under the microscope spends several years learning to tell the ones that are premalignant and this would take more than 400 words. Prebiotics remain unproven as a means of reducing colon cancer risk; claims have been around for a decade without anything strong, ask your gastroenterologist about aspirin.

Precancerous polyps: Most forms of polyps are considered precancerous except hyperplastic polyps the have no potential for becoming cancer. The only recommended treatment is excision and survillance colonoscopy. You GI may recommend f/u in 3 to 5 years or earlier depending on the pathology of the polyp or how many polyps.
