SNORING SALUTIONS: Snoring may be a symptom for a larger problem called obstructive sleep apnea which can be deadly. I'm not trying to scare you but you should see your internist and have him rx a sleep study to rule out any breathing disorder. If you have a mild to moderate problem, sleep appliances are available that work wonders.

Avoid back sleep: Avoid sleeping on your back ( sew a pocket onto the back of a t shirt and put a tennis ball in it) lose weight wearing a custom made device made by a dentist that will hold your jaw forward which opens the airway. See an ENT to check for blocked nasal passages, enlarged tonsils and adenoids.

Decongestant: Assuming that your snoring is from nasal congestion, using antihistamine would not solve the problem. Consult your family doctor to get you a nasal spray and see it this would work. Taking a decongestant may help also but then it may also keep you awake and raise your blood pressure. If the snoring is persistent , consider getting a sleep study to rule out sleep apnea.
