Can you tell me if the spinal cord was completely severed below the neck, how would the body systems work?

Won't work: there is no movement. it's like cutting an electrical cable. only it can't be reconnected. "cable is dead". There are other systems like the heart and gut that work through cranial nerves and thus are relatively unaffected. This is quite intricate however and these systems are partially affected via other feedback mechanisms (or lack thereof) of the peripheral nervous system.

An 80 old neighbour had fall, broke neck. I heard him shouting help but I didn't go outside to phone a ambulance until 30 mins later. He was walked by paramedic. He died from a severed cervical spinal cord. Am I partially responsible for his death?
