Yes it is covered: Stripping is covered by most insurance, if I am not wrong it is a medical insurance in canada it is covered by most insurance in usa, so i think it should be covered in canada as it is a valid medical condition and recognised procedure.

OHIP cover stripping: To the best of my knowledge, ohip does cover stripping but not evlt. In the us, essentaially all insurers cover stripping and evlt. It is worth checking with ohip to see if their policy has changed about evlt. If you can get it done, rather than stripping, and not have it cost enough money to break the bank, you should strongly consider it over surgery.
