Understanding how: Changing aubject's behavior can result in changes in how they are feeling ;/or how certain bodily functions work ; be modified. Examples of behavior therapy are:-biofeedback, a form of behavior therapy, and is used to learn bladder and bowel control. Aversion therapy is another form of behavior therapy used to control various impulses including smoking, overeating and unacceptable sexual behavior.

Old school Behavior: Modification uses the fact that positive or negative attention reinforces a behavior, so you "reward behaviors you want" ; " ignore behaviors you don't want". Tell the child the " rules" ; consequences when both of you are calm. "walk-don't talk" a child into time-out without making eye contact. First the behavior worsens in a bid for attention, then it goes away (extinguishes). See below.
