The doc took blood and called me and said the auto immune was abnormal. what could this possibly mean? is this life threatening?

Not quite: It is difficult to say with certainity without looking at the actual results. All lab results need to interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the test is usually in the best position to do that. There are many tests for autoimmune antibodies and the seriousness depends on the type and concentration of the auto-antibody.
