A member asked:

Tested for anaemia today. doc did not call. but i checked online. iron, blood 97 g/dl transferrin 324 mg/dl iron saturation 21 % r they normal ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Iron studies: Measurements of iron levels, transferrin (also known as iron binding protein, or TIBC) and the proportion of that protein which is saturated or filled with iron, can often give a reliable answer to the question of whether one is anemic due to insufficient available iron, or other cause. Your values appear close enough to normal that your doctor should look for other causes of anemia.
