HTN: Unfortunately, multiple clams of various natural products to lower blood pressure have suffered failure. It's not that I am against natural remedies. In fact, I am very much for, but i don't want to instill false hope in you. Interestingly enough, pomegranate juice has been shown to lower blood pressure but its effect is modest at best and it would require daily use of fairly large quantities.

Hypertension: 135/90 is not particularly high for a 74 year old. The european HTN guidelines target treatment to 140/90. If you actually more often run higher and your dr. Likely knows this, then an agent with an evidence base to justify its use is appropriate. There is such evidence for lisinopril, I am unaware of any valid evidence base which supports 'natural' treatments.
