Age?: We would need to know more about the headache, such as is it getting progressively worse, waking from sleep, etc, as well as the age of the child and her/his family and other health history. It is always best to see your child's pediatrician with this sort of question.

Rare: Without knowing the exact age of your child I can give some general pointers. Headaches that wake one up at night suddenly, are most severe in the morning and progress over a period of weeks, with vomiting, morning emesis. These are characteristics of "brain tumor" headaches. Also brain tumors may present with other "neurologic findings" as eyes that don't track together or balance problems
