Some simple ways: Migraine would be unilateral throbbing, with nausea and vomiting, sensitivity to light and noise, and eventual full recovery. Brain tumor is more insidious, with more consistent aching as the size increases, if it is causing increased pressure, but more likely will seem like a slowly worsening stroke, or may present with a seizure, blurring or doubling of vision.
