A member asked:

Abdomen pain and suspicion, should i get a ct scan or mri?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe: First exam should be a simple abdomen xray. If doctor thinks the gallbladder could be diseased, then an ultrasound is best. Most other ailments best served with a ct scan. Mri can help if a patient can't have ct contrast because of prior reaction or poor functioning kidneys. Mri scans take longer, cost more, and not readily available as ct scans.
