Can ct scan and mri of pelvis and abdomen also gather images of the interior colon?

Both can, CT better: A well prepped ct exam can give an excellent view of the inside of the colon. Ct colonography, a specific test to look at the lining (mucosa) of the colon is very good. Mri is not as good due to motion artifact.

CT Colongraphy: A special ct with bowel cleansing and gentle inflation of the colon can provide an excellent view of the inside of the colon. This specific protocol is called ct colonography, and not every imaging center or hospital can perform it well. Ask about special reviewing software, and how many ct colonographies performed per week.
