Treatment: You do not pick the treatment you want at the pain clinic. The pain clinic, hopefully, will pro\vide you with some options, many of which will not include medication for pain management. These can include exercise, breathing, acupuncture, and even yoga. I would not in any way assume an 'injection' would even be on the list of options.

Can help the pain: Chances are a small hernia that can't be felt by a good surgeon or seen on a ct is not causing your pain, nor will a hernia operation help you. A nerve block by a pain specialist won't burn any bridges and may give you long-term relief. Couple of tricks I use to thoroughly rule out hernias is have patients bear down/strain during the ct and/or come to the office late in day/after exercise.
