Be concerned: Asthma symptoms can worsen at night and this usually occur between 2-3 am. This is frequently the first sign that asthma is not controlled. If this occurs more than twice a month, then an asthma specialist should be seen to evaluate for persistent asthma. Other causes of difficulty breathing at night should be sought including sleep apnea.
